Workshops and intensive courses in Italy for adults

In 2012, intensive Italian courses will be held in Pacentro and Sulmona, on the edge of the Majella National Park in Abruzzo. I am also planning to offer a course for complete beginners in Lucca, Tuscany. See below for dates and locations.

Also new for 2012 are the one-day workshops geared to learning language for specific situations - like getting your hair cut or arranging for someone to come and look at your boiler. INTENSIVE ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSES

Monday 2 – Thursday 5 April                   Sulmona, Abruzzo                     

Corso di aggiornamento per insegnanti d’italiano in Inghilterra

Is Italian your second or third foreign language? Do you teach Italian in the UK and feel you need to practice more than you can on a normal holiday in Italy? This intensive course of 20 hours aims to give your listening and speaking skills a boost and take you outside your comfort zone. You will be involved in a variety of activities and games that will challenge you. Stay on to enjoy the Easter celebrations and practice a bit more before going back to the UK. Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 April                    Sulmona, Abruzzo                      

Upper Intermediate Italian

We’re coming down the mountain for this course because you might find Pacentro a little cold and quiet this early on in the year. But you can always stay in Pacentro and get the bus down to Sulmona. You’re bound to make new friends! Come before the course and enjoy the spectacle of the Easter celebrations in Pacentro and Sulmona.

The course will be for three hours each morning, and will focus on listening and speaking activities.

Tuesday 5 – Friday 8 June                        Pacentro, Abruzzo

Pre-intermediate Italian

Timed to coincide with half-term in UK schools, this course will help you expand the range of situations in which you can operate confidently in Italian and should also appeal to those who have a holiday home in Italy.

NB Saturday 2 June is a public holiday in Italy

Monday 10 – Friday 14 September           Pacentro, Abruzzo   

Beginners Plus

You’ve done a few weeks or months of Italian, or perhaps you learned a long time ago. Either way, you don’t want to go back to absolute basics, but you need to do some intensive work to build your confidence and correct some of your howlers! This course will get you out and about, talking to the locals as well as classroom-based activities. There will be plenty of listening to Italian and plenty of opportunities to try out what you are learning.

Monday 24- Friday 28 September             Lucca, Tuscany 

Complete Beginners

A chance to gain some basic language skills while visiting this lovely walled city. The course will help you understand spoken Italian in every-day holiday situations and give you enough vocabulary and structures to be able to make the most out of your visit. There will be 15 hours of study and some activities will be out of the classroom so you can use what you are learning in guided activities.

In 2012, I will be offering workshops aimed at those who are living in the country or who have a second home in Italy. You have particular needs that generally aren't considered in language courses. My aim is to fill that gap, and help you gain the relevant language skills so you can have a new hairstyle, get your car repaired or buy fish or meat from the local shopkeeper rather than from the supermarket.

• Telephoning to arrange redelivery of a parcel
• Talking to the right person at the 'comune'
  
• Getting your teeth checked
  

Thursday 31 May, 1000-1300                    Chieti, Abruzzo

Language for living in Italy

A workshop designed to help those who live in Italy and need some help with language for particular situations. We will cover the following:

• Arranging for a plumber to visit
• Getting your hair cut
  
• Taking faulty goods back

Saturday 1 September, 1000-1300          Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo          

Improve your Italian Pronunciation
